There is a large open air market, held each Friday, selling fresh local produce, fish, leather goods etc. Each month Torrevieja celebrates a different Festival, or Fiesta with a riot of colour, tradition, music and dance, including "la Habanera" a special rejoicing of Torrevieja's sailing history and early salt trade days with Cuba.
