Vila Marachique on the outskirts of Alvor is a recently built complex on the highest ground around with its own roadway nearly to the sea. It comprises 8 low apartment blocks built around a pool with intercom voice entry for every apartment.
This top (4th floor) east facing apartment offers uninterrupted views from its 3 verandas and the huge terrace a few steps away has panoramic vistas over whole the Algarve. It's always light and airy with a giant A/C and shutters on all windows - a welcome refuge in the heat of high summer.
The main attraction unique to the whole region is the 5 acres of verdant gardens surrounding a lagoon size pool pool bar and children's pool and play area. There is parking outside and an underground garage. Nearly next door are shops and several good restaurants - Xicos Por do Sol and Kottemisse.

Main bedroom with double bed double mirror fitted wardrobe. Views over Alto Golf and the sea, also TV and make up corner and sliding doors to the veranda. Second bedroom next door with 2 single beds and mirror wardrobe.

Bathroom(s):
Main bathroom is en-suite to main bedroom with large bath shower and bidet. The smaller bathroom has everything with a shower instead of a bath.
Living Room:
The living room is 35 sqm. It has 2 sofas a sofa bed cable TV, CD, DVD, Internet bar and bureau. The room ends with large sliding doors onto a veranda with views over the
mountains and the pool.
Kitchen:
American style open plan seats six. Sliding doors onto a veranda with views over Alto Golf. Equipped with every possible appliance.
Other:
The kitchen balcony gives access to the utility room which contains all the large kitchen equipment.The giant terrace directly above is great for BBQs.
In all the apartment has 4 outside tables 16 chairs and 2 sun beds. Access to the pool and garden is restricted. It is a vast sea of green with shade from the palm trees and its football field size guarantees room for everyone.
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid service:
Everything for apartment use provided. Please bring beach towels. Maid service only if specifically requested.
Beach:
Just down the road are some of the best and most beautiful beaches in Europe all blue flagged and all very different.
Praia da Rocha has something for everyone. At the top end are 2 private enclosures for those who like champagne service or mixing with the stars. But the rest of Praia da Rocha is a huge expance of sand with beach restaurants rows of parasols, sun beds and a kilometer long wooden promenade.
Praia do Vau next is more secluded and leads onto the magic coves and caves of Joao Arens Prainha and Tres Irmaos.
Finally there is Praia do Alvor kilometers of sand dunes and beach restaurants.
Further Details:
Western Algarve is sparsely populated and little exploited. Alvor village is still the picturesque fishing village with narrow cobbled streets, bars, restaurants and lots of atmosphere. By the harbor fishing trips grotto excursions BBQ outings are on hand. Portimao the other way has super supermarkets and 2 commercial centres.
Going West Lagos is best remembered for Henry the Navigator and the slave trade. The road ends at the end of Europe - Cabo St Vincente and the open Atlantic. The views are majestic and the beaches along this coast empty. For the real tourist Mount Foia at 1000m is 1 hour away.
Lisbon and Seville are both about 2.5 hours drive an easy day's drive there and back. For the adventurer there is always Gibraltar or Fatima. Excursions can be arranged everywhere.
