Varna is one of the most popular cities over 110 km long, its width, including the new residential quarters is almost 9 km. The National Revival Alley in Varna is decorated with bronze monuments to prominent Bulgarians, and the Cosmonauts Alley contains trees which have been planted by Yuri Gagarin and other Soviet cosmonauts in the 1960's. The Garden has become a national monument of landscape architecture.
The waterfront promenade in Varna is lined by many beach clubs offering a vibrant scene of rock, hip-hop, Bulgarian and American style pop, and techno. In October 2006, the Independent newspaper dubbed Varna as Europe's new funky town, the place to be seen in Bulgaria. Varna now enjoys a nationwide reputation for its rock and hip-hop artists and other events such as July Morning, international rock and hip-hop venues.
The gem of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast is situated at the end of the Varna Bay, with its convenient and well conserved water area. The cities sea charm is sublime and moving. Also in Varna is the 2.5 km long, 50 m high Asparuhov Bridge, which is a popular spot for bungee jumping. Outside the city are the Euxinograd palace, park and winery, the University of Sofia Botanical.
