Aourir or banana village Banana Village as its often known lies 7 km north of the Moroccan city of Agadir. Aourir has an Atlantic Ocean coast location with a stunning mountainous back drop that gives this Moroccan village a special appeal to many travelling tourists heading south down the "International Road", a few km after the village of Taghazout.
The name Banana Village was given its name by the famous musician Jimmy Hendrix back in the 1960's due to the vast quantities of fresh sweet bananas which are on sale on the sides of roads and grown in the valley above. Jimmy Hendrix wasn't the only musician to come to this village; the legendary Bob Marley was often seen in Aourir.
